The Blue Pages: The Ultimate Old Web Guide

You have many options for free hosting as long as your site is static, many of which can be deployed automatically from a git repo like Github Pages (pages.gay, statichost.eu, grebedoc.dev, Codeberg Pages…). If you need server side scripting, your options are more limited. I use HelioHost for dynamic stuff.

For redundancy you can push your repo to multiple forges. I push everything to three now. I felt like it was overkill when I set it up but then Codeberg and Github started going down all the time. Here’s how it looks in .git/config:

[remote "origin"]
	url = ssh://git@git.gay/pnppl/pnppl.cc.git
	fetch = +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/origin/*
	pushurl = ssh://git@git.gay/pnppl/pnppl.cc.git
	pushurl = ssh://git@github.com/pnppl/pnppl.cc.git
	pushurl = ssh://git@codeberg.org/pnppl/pnppl.cc.git

The only annoying thing is as far as I can tell you can’t just push to an empty repo to create it, you have to go through the web UI to set it up.

Also, you can still wipe them all out at once if you aren’t careful. git it not a backup, etc.
