May 2026 Website Updates: What did you do to your website today?

I feel you. I used to run a YouTube channel with around 10k subscribers. People who didn’t read the video description were the bane of my existence – along with the guys (always guys…) who felt the need to “explain” things I was already doing in the video. e.g. Them: “You actually need to use [product X] to get this effect,” Me: “I know, I’m literally using it in the video. You can see me using it at [timestamp]” Them: “[crickets chirping]”

The tedious work of having to redo something I did in asperite all again is over, I finally made another perfume for my pixel club because Velvouette has been screaming my head off for a better one.

Other people have been making more bottles than me and filling the shelves quick. I gotta step up my game

Just some small tweaks this time around, but several of my pages now look right in NetSurf. It was a matter of pride, and all it took was closing some paragraphs explicitly.

new premade layout . not a super exciting one! mostly made it because i think it’s interesting how many people even on retro-inspired pages use three-column layouts, three columns are really hot on neocities. mostly because of sadgrl’s layout generator i think haha

thanks to mortaki i am using github to update my site now and sync changes between my laptop and computer; i’m still a little worried about breaking something, but so far it seems to be working! its definitely more convenient this way since i split my time pretty evenly between computers.

Today I created a responsive gasp page to view all of my blog posts, and an rss feed to go along with it!

its missing graphics so drawing them is next on my list (i mocked up a silly pigeon that looks more like an airplane just to have something in there, but trust it will be drawn soon) :crossed_fingers:

Recently released a new gallery template called Deviation, which is loosely inspired by old DeviantArt. It has a mobile-friendly layout, dark/light mode, lightboxes for enlarging images on click, a filter system, and a color scheme based on HSL calculations, so you can just set one color and it automatically calculates the rest.

That looks fantastic! Nicely done.

As for me, I made some further tweaks to my website’s default stylesheet. It originally featured a repeating damask pattern in the background, box shadows, and a paper-like texture on the main div to make reading the site feel a little more like reading an old book. After sitting with it for a few days, those particular design elements felt a little too distracting (and I’m pretty sure the background image was giving me headaches). The fonts I’m using already do a decent-enough job of putting me in mind of old books, so no real need for any additional skeumorphic CSS tricks, I think.

Speaking of fonts … slight tweak there as well: I’m now using IM Fell Double Pica / SC instead of IM Fell English / SC, as the latter’s punctuation marks looked a little off to me.

Finally, added some new entries to my links page and my media logs page. :slightly_smiling_face:

With one day left in this month, I made a page about the Gopher protocol on my wiki.

I migrated my site off Cloudflare pages and on to a VPS. I’ll make a blog post about it soon, but the main reasons are a) more flexibility and b) to learn something new.

It all seems to be working!

And looking at my server logs for the first time, holy moley so much traffic is bots trying to get to pages that don’t exist (requests for weird long paths that are combinations of actually existing paths).
