Thank you for taking Charlie. I had to do the same with a pit bull puppy in a city with a breed ban where the options were to let her get abused or taken/put down by the local SPCA. He is beautiful.
And pet grief is not taken seriously enough. I am still grieving my last dog-friend and in the full year after I was just adrift. Thanks for loving these animals so much.
You did the right thing and I am glad Charlie is safe and sound, and looks very happy in all of his photos. I am SO OVER people who just donāt care about their pets. I could tell from the first sentence you introduced him and his owner that there would be no follow-up on the promised neutering or treating of nasty wounds. We used to live next to one of these people, and they had an outdoor cat that similarly received no care. When we inquired about her, they said āoh but my kid would just be so heartbroken, thatās THEIR cat!ā Then they moved, and I guess the kid was heartbroken, because they left the cat behind. Didnāt even let us know or ask us to take care of her. Since then Iāve just done whatās best for the animals when theyāre in pain.
Animals are not toys! They arenāt just there to amuse you and take beatings!!!
Ugh, sorry for the rant. Anyways, Charlie seems to be living his best life, and is a very handsome gentleman and Iām so happy for him!
itās so sad that people do that; i know it happens, but itās just so hard to wrap my head around it⦠like, why adopt the animal in the first place! and if you know someoneās willing/offered to take care of it, why not reach out⦠i dont get it at all. the poor kid, too. :(
@small_cypress oooof thatās such an uncomfortable position to be put in, breed bans really add a whole other layer of complication to the situation :( thanks, and iām sorry about your dogfriend; itās really hard, even with time
The Weekly Wrap Up is posted! Links this week include a history of the rhubarb plant, a list of endangered heritage crafts and an Old Internet Pattern Book of background tiles. I show off a little cross stitch project and talk about my recent hip surgery. Plus, as usual, I listened to, read and watched things.

New digital minimalism-focused blog post on why I donāt think screens themselves are necessarily the enemy, drawing parallels between present day anti-screen discourse and the anti-television movements of years gone by.
I loved reading this especially re: Critical and Passive Screen Time. I find it interesting that digital minimalism/analog bag trend/etc always takes these to the extremes when it really boils down to being conscious of the ābrainrotā/doomscrolling part of screentime.
In general I usually do look at screens for a large portion of my day - usually reading ebooks or fanfics or peopleās blogs, or drawing digitally. I play a lot of video games too. For me it really is about actively participating in the activity you are doing whether it involves a screen or not.
This is from May but thought someone may enjoy reading:
I ran into a small hurdle of āblogging pressureā, so I turned off my upvote count # and have also just been posting more frequent candid posts.
In my 2000/2010s LJ/deviantart/tumblr days I used to post more āart dumpā style of blog posts where I could share my drawings and also yap about them. (Iām also trying to beat my art block in general!)
This is an art market type of event in Dallas that I visited as a day trip.
Iām also doing a shorter decluttering series where Iām trying to declutter 1 small thing/area each day. You can see the posts on my archive page but I donāt feel they are very fun to read haha.
I always get tempted to do one big purge (and then get overwhelmed) so Iām trying to do just a small bit each day and blog about it to keep myself accountable.
