I mean to be fair, I haven’t owned a console since the NES. And my rabbit destroyed the wires of that (I was rather upset). I wanted to get a game system, maybe a Game Boy, as a kid, but even with my oen money I wasn’t allowed to buy one because my mom hated video games (what she really hated was how easily frustrated I got).
I did eventually get Sonic 3 & Knuckles for the PC and I played that to death, and it’s still a favorite of mine. I’d love to own a Genesis some day and actually play it on console.
Nothing beats being able to lounge in bed on a weekend morning with my 3DS playing a bit of Animal Crossing or Pokemon Pearl or Wario World 3. I love my 3DS so much, and this love extends to my other handheld Nintendo consoles. I do not have a Switch since it’s still too pricey for me and doesn’t really have anything on it that I want all that badly. I have a Gameboy SP that I got when I was in high school and I still have a lot of my old Advanced games to play on, like Golden Sun 1 and 2, Pokemon Fire Red, Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones, etc. The battery doesn’t work all that well anymore so it needs to be plugged into a wall so I can play it for extended periods. I also have a Nintendo DS which I bought used with money I had saved up from working a summer job. All of three of these consoles are red.
I like the 3DS in particular because of how hackable it is and the sheer volume of titles available, and its backwards compatibility with DS games. I also like its augmented reality games. I still find them novel and fun.
Oh boy, this is a hard question. When I grew up, I spent a lot of time playing on the SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Game Boy Advance, DS, and 3DS. (Also had a Sega Genesis for a while.) Out of all of these, I admit, I kind of like the GBA the most. Lots of fun variants, a vast game library (even before the backwards compatibility with GB and GBC titles), and IMO, when it came to 2D-only consoles, I feel like this was the peak of them. Also helps that there’s a lot of fun hardware mods then and now! 3DS and Wii are honorable mentions due to how hackable they are. (I need to fix my 3DS, heh. It seems to shut off or crash if it bumps into something, and it seems to be having weird power issues?)
