I will be daily posting for the next few weeks, and trying to live my life in such a way that I have something interesting enough to report each day (i.e. not rotting my life away reading youtube comments!)
first blog post in a long time⦠and the first of blaugust!
lets see if i can actually post daily
I wrote about some cool platforms Iāve stumbled upon recently :)
The months are just flying by, arenāt they?
Itās Wednesday which means itās time for another tiara post! This week Iām taking a look at Peridot Tiaras for August.
Iāve also been making Blaugust posts:
I really love your divorce ring post. Thereās something about women allowing themselves to engage with jewelry on their own terms that I love.
day 2 of blaugust and this is a long one⦠but i could go on and on about my system
i dont think i should be putting these here every day so to avoid cluttering up the whole channel i will only be posting the ones im particularly fond of or that are significantā¦
About Imatal, my notes management system
(the onebox didnt work for some reason)
I attended the new Asia Pacific timezone Homebrew Website Club, hosted by @burgeonlab :)
I love the teeny quilt star and also that you hooked up your siblingās kid with the Foy Information Desk.
for day six of blaugust i talk a lil bit why i study religion :) Why Study Religion? (Day 6)
Absolutely adore this post, since I minored in religious studies. Makes me want to write another post myself, maybe about how religions were originally shaped by the geography and wildlife and weather patterns thousands of years ago.
I once saw an interesting take (it was an offhanded remark in a video by the leftist cooks they deliberately didnāt explore) that all insults are other-ing because youāre defining a group and giving it a negative connotation. They mentioned specifically something like attacking those with power for something not related to their power, like their weight or appearance, being more likely to cause harm to to those around you than the actual target of the insult.
I think insults solely focused on the powerful, like using ābilionaireā in a derogatory sense, is mostly fine. But any other term is more iffy. Definitions can change, including the ableist term in question, and you may feel its okay because the definition has changed from its roots, but it evidently hasnāt changed everywhere and even where it has changed, it still carries an essentialist message - someone made a mistake, and is now being called one-who-makes-mistakes. I donāt like the idea of defining a class of ādumbā people anymore than the original use of the r slur.
But idk. I donāt think the answer is calling people youāre frustrated with billionaires, nor do I think we can reasonably call for people to just stop insulting each other (even when I donāt think people deserve to be insulted for simply failing to do something or making a mistake). I think it would be nice to avoid using terms we know groups of people find to be offensive and perpetuating normative behavior.
I no longer scan people or posts for wrongdoing or to see if they are good/bad like I used to,
This is a good thing.
re: on the utter garbage i posted earlier
Thank you for taking the time to reassess that. I know it can be a hard thing to do, so I just want you to know that itās appreciated.
shorter post for day seven of blaugust
Time to share another one of the jeweled oddities that I found while hunting down tiaras. Take a look at these Diamond and Emerald Spectacles.
Also, between Wednesdayās and todayās sparkly posts there was another Blaugust post:
Happily Ever After - Hoping for a happily ever after in my life and learning to be content with whatever may come.
